Large unit – 4 roommates
Provocation – As people age, why are we still developing senior housing that confines the elderly to secluded, institutional like conditions rather than establishing shared communities, fostering connection and support. 

Concept statement – Enabling elderly people to live with roommates by providing in unit common spaces encouraging social interaction while also maintaining independence for each of the unit’s residents.

Sharing a space with roommates can make cost of living more affordable and improve quality of life. This concept provides opportunities for social engagement giving them a sense of safety, connection and a community.

Plan

This unit consists of 3 bedrooms but can accommodate 4 people. It is designed in a practical way to meet the comforts of its residents and to create a sense of having a home.

The layout of the unit aims to maximise sunlight for each space such as the bedrooms, living and kitchen.

The residents also have an opportunity with personalizing their space to form a sense of nostalgia.
